Brooklyn via Long Beach trio We Barbarians announced their upcoming late summer tour today with ANR, kicking off August 31 in New York at the Mercury Lounge and wrapping September 20 in San Diego at Soda Bar. The tour will be pre-ceeded by three nights with Foster The People in early August. Upcoming dates will lead into a brand new EP, the details of which will be announced shortly.
We Barbarians’ trajectory has been pointing sky-high since the release of their debut full-length, There’s This There’s That, in 2009, crossing the country back-and-forth supporting such acts as Passion Pit, Local Natives, Tokyo Police Club, Maps and Atlases, Ra Ra Riot, Cold War Kids, The Morning Benders and Les Savy Fav. With a sound that is both propulsive and anthemic, the band has continued to win over audiences each and every night on the road. After a triumphant SXSW this March, David Quon (singer/guitarist), Derek VanHeule (bass/vocals) and Nathan Warkentin (drums/vocals) settled in Brooklyn, NY to take their next steps forward and continue to write new material.
