The Back Eyed Peas dazzled festival-goers during their headline set at Wireless music festival in London’s Hyde Park on Friday evening.
The electro-pop foursome started their one hour, 40 minute performance slot with their 2010 single ‘Rock Your Body’, which was quickly followed with an impressive vocal from for their number one hit ‘Meet Me Halfway’.
After catapulting through a number of their singles including ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’, ‘Imma Be’, ‘Phunk With My Heart’ and ‘Shut Up’, the three male members left the stage, allowing Fergie to perform solo.
“Hello Hyde Park. It’s so good to see you,” she beamed. “I get to sing you a song from my solo album The Duchess.”
The 36-year-old singer then broke into a rendition of her 2007 hit ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’, with the 65,000-strong crowd joining in on the chorus while waving their hands in the air.
It was then the turn of will.i.am to grace the stage solo. The producer took to the decks to play a series of pop classics to the audience, while wearing an electrically-lit colour-changing jacket and being hoisted up into the air on a platform.
He spun a number of hits including Usher’s ‘OMG’, Eurythmics’ ‘Sweet Dreams’, Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ and Rolling Stones’ ‘Satisfaction’.
Once the band reunited on stage, the four-piece proceeded to get the crowd jumping with their Pulp Fiction-inspired tune ‘Pump It’.
Taking a rare moment to speak to the audience, will.i.am explained: “We wouldn’t be here in this park if it wasn’t for you guys.”
“The first place we were successful in was London,” he declared, before starting to rap the verse to their break-out hit ‘Where Is The Love?’.
Following performances of ‘Boom Boom Pow’ and ‘The Time (Dirty Bit)’, the multi-million-selling group concluded the set with their worldwide smash ‘I Gotta Feeling’ and were joined on stage by the record’s producer .
