This weekends picks make up another swell summertime smorgasboard, because nothing screams awesome more than variety. With it being the spice of life, theres very little arguing to be done. Weve got rock along its long and broad spectrum classic and nouveau alike punk, electronic solo outfits, and everything in between. Not your typical weekend, but  is it ever really? Check them out below:

  • Rioux | Friday, July 15 | 8:00 pm | 21+ | Cameo Gallery, Brooklyn, NY Map | Rioux, also known as Evan Michael Rioux, specializes in the audiovisual end of things, incorporating a fusion of color, light, and smooth and punctuated electronic sound. Just a taste of his talents, naturally, is all we can provide; we suggest checking out his discography, free downloads, and, um, perhaps this performance tonight? With Food Stamps, Lovett, Brite Futures for more information, call (718) 302-1180.
  • Naked Kids | Friday, July 15 | 8:30 pm | 18+ | $5 | Lot 1 Cafe, Los Angeles, CA Map | Los Angeles-based post-punk pseudo pop-esque band Naked Kinds has oh, so embraced the concept of structural noise, the one thing that can easily make or break anything attempted within the punk genre. Questionable name aside, you want summer music that doesnt stick to the bottom of your shoes, youve got it with Naked Kids whose debut, Fresh Meat, is available for free download via their official Facebook. With Hosannas, Basement Babies, Pangea for more information, call (213) 481-8400.
  • Austra | Saturday, July 16 | 10:00 pm | 21+ | $10 | Empty Bottle, Chicago, IL Map | Airy dance club music with a swift hook and edge? Hello, Austra. The three-piece electronic bands debut EP, Feel It Break, was released this past May, and they are currently on tour from now until the better part of September. • The Fleshtones | Saturday, July 16 | 10:30 pm | 21+ | $12 in advance, $14 day of show | Mercury Lounge, New York, NY Map | Is there such a thing as real rock & roll? Depends on whos playing, wed say; but it can be argued that The Fleshtones were one of the bands of the seventies, rocking the attitude and subsequent guitar and vocal slinging that characterizes *ahem* real rock & roll. Whatever you want to call it, we reckon that the Queens-formed band is still fabulous at it, which is why theyre the ones onstage and were not. With special guest Lenny Kaye; The Insomniacs - Buy Tickets
  • Nervous Gender | Sunday, July 17 | 10:00 pm | 18+ | $8 | The Echo, Los Angeles, CA Map | Outspoken Los Angeles-based punk, synthpunk, industrial rock is back with an ultra distorted composition and lyric style that beholds makes us nervous and aware at the same time. Sound strange? Experience tells us that the stranger, or more potentially uncomfortable it makes us, the better, and by the sound of Nervous Gender, we might safely assume they consider it a mission: accomplished kind of situation. With Human Toys, Violent Tremors Buy Tickets

Those are our picks and were sticking to em. Whos on your To See List this weekend?
