Because it’s been too long since his name was last dragged throughout the news, Michael Jackson’s family released a statement today, saying that they are “denying their support for a concert paying tribute to the late King of Pop scheduled for October 8th in Cardiff, Wales.”
According to Rolling Stone:
According to the estate, they had never authorized the use of Jacksons name for the concert, which is called Michael Forever: The Tribute Concert.
In addition to the trouble with Jacksons estate, the tribute concert has also lost support from the singers brothers Jermaine and Randy, who announced that they were not comfortable with the fact that the show would take place during the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray, the physician charged with involuntary manslaughter in his death.
The brothers feel that the most important tribute we can give to our brother at this time is to seek justice in his name.
Meanwhile, Jackson’s father, Joe, began to mysteriously twirl his moustache and hastily cover a small scale model of a theme park that appeared to say “Michael Jackson’s Super Terrific Ch-Ching Ch-Ching Magic Happy Town Land Ch-Ching!” and muttered something about, yeah, it’s not good when people try to profit from his son’s name.
