You might not have guessed Tone Loc would be circling atop the entertainment headlines Monday morning, but there he is, in the news due to an arrest on suspicion of felony domestic violence in Southern California.
Billboard.com reports that Burbank police Sgt. Tracy Sanchez said Anthony Smith (AKA Tone Loc) was arrested Saturday.
Tone Loc is probably best known for the 1989 hip-hop hits Wild Thing and Funky Cold Medina.
The entertainers arrest proceeded an alleged physical altercation with the mother of his child. The 45-year-old was booked into a local jail a few hours later, where he was being held on a $50,000 bond.
Aside from his two monstrous hits as a rap star, Loc has appeared in a variety of TV series and some notable, Hollywood films, including roles in Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Heat, putting his deep, perfectly scratchy voice to good use on the big screen.
His top-ten smash single Wild Thing, from the album Lōc-ed After Dark, which made it to #1 on the Billboard 200, is about to re-enter the pop culture spotlight as it is currenlty featured in the new trailer for the upcoming Smurfs movie. Then again, a song like that just never goes out of style.
