Tom Veks Saam Farahmand-directed Aroused video features folks staring moodily at the camera before treating cigarettes like a hot date. Vek: Its a nod to the way in which smoking is used heavily and quite innocently in art and fashion In the video, it represents feelings of being overwhelmed and extremities both of which tie in with the sentiment of the album. Dont watch if youre trying to quit.

ROCKPORT – The British Baroque music band called Red Priest recently passed through town for two programs at the Rockport Chamber Music Festival. I caught only the second one, but if it was indicative of both, its a shame that this group represented Rockports entire early music slate for the summer season.

Im all for clever satire and concerts with a creative theatrical gloss, but this one had neither, though it certainly tried. The program was titled Bach and the Pirates, a play on the notion that Baroque composers often borrowed from each others works or cribbed from their own pieces to create new ones.

Manika, 17-year-old emerging pop artist, will perform live on the nationwide Shop Til You Rock tour this summer, on seven dates starting July 23 through September 10.  Manika will be the only female performer participating in this summers STYR tour, and will perform two amplified acoustic performances per show date, followed by a meet and greet for her fans.  In between performances, and after the meet and greet, Manika will join the kids in the audience as they participate in the Just Dance 2 Fan Challenge.  Sponsors are Pepsi, GameStop and Ubisofts Just Dance 2 videogame.

Happy Friday once again! Welcome to the seventh installment of Its the End of the Week as We Know It. So a few weeks ago, a couple of friends and I began reminiscing about our respective bands from high school; we pulled up some recordings via old MySpace accounts and mp3 libraries, and enjoyed explaining the context of our old songs, smirking at their amateur charms. Listening back to these old recordings seemed to trigger some vivid memories for each of us; after listening to a few tracks from my friends brothers high school pop-punk band, he expressed how when he was much younger, he knew those songs inside and outeach riff, each lyricas the band would rehearse them constantly in their garage.
